WHERE THE MONEY IS
Nigerians spend a lot of time doing paperwork and preparing business plans to apply for loans which are often turned down. it puzzles me that the sector in which loans are readily available is often neglected. Loans are readily available in the Agricultural sector. Loans from the federal government, state government and even international agencies. These loans are available to tackle issues such as food security, malnutrition, unemployment and other socio-economic concerns of life but people are either ignorant of it or unwilling to access it because of the perception that Agriculture is a lot of work. The truth of the matter is that Agriculture is being given prominence now more than ever before because it is the only sector that has such far-reaching effects that transcends into tremendous change in other sectors. Agriculture is now modern with a lot of creativity and innovation being experienced in the sector, hence the need to discard whatever fear you might have about the sector because it is no longer really labour intensive. Horticulture brings money on the fast lane, people are now processing, packaging and branding Agricultural produce into products and smart ideas such as tree houses, think Agriculture's proposed model Agro-businesses and ICT packages.
These loans are readily available for people that want to be part of the development of their countries and even the world at large. These loans are available for change agents, nation builders and the modern farmer. Individual can access these loans by organizing themselves in groups i.e farmers group and bring forth a strong business plan or idea related to Agriculture and present your proposal. If it is really good, you will see your request being granted. If you are an Agriculturist i expect you to be part of a farmers' group or create one and let you and your group discuss and bring out a good proposal to access loans. land is always available when something is of benefit to the society.
